L & J Coal Mine #224 By Jerry Jenkins
Jerry designed and built this draft mine to fit a tight location we had picked out on the hill side below the main line.  Back in the old days a mine like this would be hard pressed to load one hopper per day.  Thus it took  a huge number of mines operating to load an entire train.
L & J mining is owned an operated by Lorraine and Jerry Jenkins of  Clinton, Indiana.  The blizzard of 2010 shut the mine down temporarily but was soon back to work filling hoppers with home heating fuel.
